The book we’re reading
A six-week course dedicated to the unseen element of IGCSE English Language — the texts students meet cold in the exam. Rather than memorising set content, students build a reliable, repeatable method for reading unfamiliar fiction and non-fiction under time pressure: retrieving information accurately, summarising in their own words, analysing how writers use language and structure to create effects, and comparing two texts on a shared theme. Across the weeks they practise on a range of text types with timed exercises and feedback, so that by the end an unseen passage feels like a familiar challenge rather than a nasty surprise.
