What we’re studying

A focused transactional writing class on two of the most common exam formats: speeches and letters. Students learn what gives a speech its power — a clear purpose, a strong opening, and rhetorical techniques that hold an audience — and how to shape a letter to suit its reader and reason for writing. With a guided exam task and time to practise, it builds the confidence and technique to write persuasively and adapt tone and structure to any prompt under timed conditions.

Class contents

  • What makes a good speech?

  • How to capture your audience

  • Article exam task on "Teen Stress"

  • Practice time and quick review
