What we’re studying
The opening class of the transactional writing course, laying the foundations for everything that follows. Students find out what transactional writing actually is — writing for a real purpose and audience, from articles and letters to speeches and reviews — and why identifying purpose, audience and format is the key to every task. The focus this week is the article: how to structure one, open with a hook, and write with a clear, engaging voice, followed by hands-on practice and peer feedback to get started with confidence.
