A consolidation session revising three set texts across poetry, modern drama and Shakespeare. Students revisit Carol Ann Duffy's "War Photographer" — its themes of suffering, the photographer's uneasy detachment, and how comfortable readers quickly forget what they're shown — before sitting a revision test on An Inspector Calls to check recall of its characters, themes and key quotations under exam-style conditions. The class then turns to The Merchant of Venice, grounding it in Shakespearean context — Elizabethan Venice, attitudes to money-lending and religion, and the theatrical conventions of the period — so students can read the play's choices with that background in mind.
